The only downside to going to a show invisibly was that you had to watch out for running into too many people. One or two is fine, but lots of people being nudged by thin air would kind of blow her cover, she figured. Anyway, it was almost like playing human dodge ball. It was fun.
The show was an awesome lineup: Flyleaf was playing down at the amphitheater with Drowning Pool and Red. Tickets were selling for 20 dollars a piece, the operative word being "selling"-- they were sold out by the time Erin found out about the show. Like that even mattered; she didn't need to pay anyway. Usually only people that you saw had to pay for seeing the show.
The thing was in driving distance, but unfortunately, you can't drive a car invisible. Some people get a bit worried about cars going without drivers, Erin thought with a laugh at the mental image. So instead, Erin got her cousin to drive her downtown, and when he pulled away and she milled about the people, Erin faded into invisibility.
It was pretty cool how it worked, really. She still didn't get it right sometimes; there were times she'd loose invisibility and almost got caught in a place she didn't belong, but 'almost' made a big difference. That was fun, too. She could always see herself, so she couldn't just look down at her feet to tell, but that's okay. For the most part, it was fool-proof.
A gust of wind blew through the street and Erin automatically reached for her hat. She smiled at herself. It's not like anyone could see it; she felt naked without it, though. It was like those people who can't leave the house without their watch or their makeup or their iPod.
Distracted, Erin accidentally crossed the path of a passerby and stumbled over their shoes, letting out a surprised squeak before silencing herself. "Crap!" she mouthed as the passerby recovered and looked around for the source of the random influx of gravity. She often forgot that being unseen didn't make her unheard.
Erin pulled out her phone and checked the time. Wow, far too early. She'd be waiting for an hour and a half if she showed up now! Erin paused and looked around her for somewhere interesting to go. Her eyes scanned the signs up and down the way and landed on a coffee shop. She didn't see anyone looking in her direction and, reentering into visibility, Erin stood by the side of the road waiting for the cars to clear, rocking on the balls of her feet in idleness.

Already feeling the heat from the walking that he endured for a while Kenny, the young unusual drifter found himself surprisingly at Texas. "Hmmmm seems ok to take a breather or two" he said as he took a bottle of water from his pocket and sipped on it to keep from being dehydrated. "Just about empty" he said as he finished his sip and threw it in the nearest garbage can. Suddenly he caught a glimpse of a coffee shop and he felt relieved. "Well i guess i can go for some coffee for now. Hope no one notices me" he said as he looked at his hands hoping they won't glow and with that he began to walk on to the shop.

Finally the street cleared enough for Erin to sprint across the lanes to the other side, where she leaned on the wall by the door to the coffee shop, breathing in the scents. Coffee smelled too good to actually be good, she thought amusedly as she pushed open the door. The bell gave a little jingle as she crossed the threshold and the scents of the shop tripled in intensity.
Erin reached into her pocket and drew her hand out empty. "Well, duh," she muttered, rolling her eyes. Of course she didn't have money with her. She didn't need money for a ticket and didn't intend on paying for anything else, but… you can't expect me to walk into a freaking café and not get something, she thought. That's just ridiculous.
The guy behind the counter set a vanilla velvet ice coffee on to the side to be picked up. Erin bit the inside of her cheek, ticked that she'd have to watch the guy get her favorite drink when she couldn't get one, too. After a few moments no one showed up to claim it and Erin heard the coffee guy mutter to his coworker that he bet the dude was in the bathroom or something and shrugged it off. He'll be out soon enough, he said. A smile crossed her lips as an idea dawned into Erin's head. She slipped into the hall for the restroom out of sight and eased into invisibility. As she walked back into the front of the shop, the ice coffee beading condensation on the counter still. It took a bit more will power, but Erin made it so that when she held the plastic of the cup, it faded into nothingness, too. She grinned as she pulled the first sip out of the cold coffee and mouthed in a singsong fashion, "I just saved five dollars, I just save five dollars!"
Erin turned the corner into the hall again and returned to visibility, then walked back into the main area holding her free coffee with both hands, straw in mouth. She looked around for an empty table and it didn't taker her long to find one near a window. She waltzed over contentedly as the door opened again, entering another patron. She shook her foot to the song that was stuck in her head, perfectly thrilled that she saved five bucks and got her favorite drink completely unnoticed. Sure, she technically stole it, but it wasn't like she robbed a bank or anything. It was five bucks; it happened all the time.
As Kenny entered the shop he looked around to find service somewhere. He turned around and saw a lady who was drinking some coffee and apparently looking happy. Suddenly he noticed the counter and checked his pockets for money, he felt the bills in his pocket and sighed with relief. "What seems like the best kind of coffee to buy here." he asked the cashier who then told him to buy a Vanilla Velvet Ice Coffee, So Kenny paid for the coffee and looked around for a table to drink his coffee.
The little shop was a bit more popular than it had first seemed to Erin. When she had come in, the crowd had been a mediocre one, but now she looked around in curiosity to see many more people milling about. A bunch of college kids were in a corner, textbooks spread and laptops on their faces, chatting up a storm. Probably more about Facebook crap than actual school, Erin thought with a smile. That's how to do it.
Another glance around and Erin saw a guy turning his eyes around the place, looking for an empty seat. Well, that's not gonna work, she thought, rolling her eyes. Each table was now occupied by at least one person, if not more. No one wanted to sit with a stranger uninvited. It's... awkward.
She waved in the guy's direction and then pointed to one of the other two seats empty at the table by her window. "Hey-- no one's using either of those. It's fine." Her voice was as apathetic as she felt, though she had to make it carry just a bit as she didn't bother getting up yet. Apathy felt very good right now.
Kenny suddenly heared someone telling him that there was an empty seat by a table near a window. He turned around to see the girl that he saw as he came in the store and with that he headed to the table and began to take his seat to drink his coffee while looking at the window. "Thanks I didn't know where to sit to be honest I hope I'm not bothering anything." he said looking a little worried. While he waited for a response he took a sip of the ice coffee while looking out the window to see what was going on. "Quite an Interesting taste for ice coffee." Kenny said as he placed the drink down for now.

He turned and walked over to the window table. Erin reached into her pocket for her iPod and, turning it on, filled her ears with Flyleaf acoustic.
The guy sat down in one of the empty chairs and sampled his drink. "Thanks I didn't know where to sit to be honest I hope I'm not bothering anything."
Erin looked up at him, surprised that he was speaking to her. She smiled at the concern on his face, as if he was invading. "Nah, it's fine," she said, waving off his worry with her hand. "It's not like my name's on it." She shifted her eyes to the screen on her iPod and changed the song to something from Demon Hunter.
"Quite an Interesting taste for ice coffee," the guy said, setting his on the table.
"It's the only thing I get here, so I guess I'm used to its weirdness now." She turned the volume down on her iPod and pulled out her cell phone to check the time. She planned on leaving in a few minutes, anyway. "My name's Erin," she said, replacing her phone into her pocket.

"Nice to meet you, I'm Kenny" he said as he looked out now hoping to see something interesting going about. "I'm just here because i needed a boost of Energy, hoping to find something to do before I make my travels" he said as he quickly took another sip of his coffee. "There's something happening Is there?" he asked
Erin poked her straw into the plastic at the bottom of her cup. She hadn't realized it was empty already. She shrugged.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Kenny," the guy said, distracted by something outside. "I'm just here because I needed a boost of energy, hoping to find something to do before I make my travels." He paused and drank a bit of his coffee. "There's something happening, is there?"
Erin's eyebrow arched and she stifled a snicker. No reason in particular, she just did. "Well," Erin said, nodding across the road. "I'm not sure what you'd consider a 'happening', but there's a show behind that place over there... the amphitheater.. if you're into that." She shrugged again and dumped her cup into the bin.
"So," she said, "Travels, huh? Where're you goin'?"

"It depends wherever I end up, I'm a drifiter and I usually appear here and there looking for something to settle in. So some show is about to happen in the amplitheater sounds interesting at least I think it is. I'll probably check that out" he said as sipped his cup until he saw his hand looking a little glowing which prompted him from hiding it so that the lady doesn't noticed it.

When Erin asked Kenny where he was heading, he responded, "It depends wherever I end up, I'm a drifter and I usually appear here and there looking for something to settle in."
Erin's eyebrows raised at that. She'd never heard of a thing like that before, really. It was kind of cool sounding to her, actually. Weird, but cool. It made her wonder a good bit about this guy across her way. A smile played at the corners of her mouth. "That's somethin' you don't hear every day, Heck," she laughed, "I just drift through school." Wow, she thought. Worst pun ever, Erin. Good job!
"So some show is about to happen in the amphitheater.. Sounds interesting, at least I think it is. I'll probably check that out," Kenny said.
Erin cocked her head sideways in thought. He didn't strike her as the scene type or anything like that, but hey, music crosses all boundaries. Who was she to lock people into categories? She smiled. "I think you'd enjoy yourself," she said as Kenny raised the cup to his lips again. Something about the image looked a bit odd to Erin; it didn't take too long to pinpoint the slight radiance penetrating the air around his hand. Apparently, it wasn't just Erin's eyes fooling her, because Kenny didn't hesitate to remove his hand from sight.
Her brow wrinkled and Erin pursed her lips. You've got nothing on me, she thought with amusement. Now the question remained-- should she bother pursuing her mind's questions? After a few seconds of internal debate, the conclusion came: Heck yes!
"Hey," she said. "That's a pretty snazzy trick there... why so mysterious?"

Kenny was breathing heavily as he was keeping his hands hidden from Erin because he feared that she would be scared of the fact the he for some apparent reason can produce energy blasts out of his hands like a strange freak of some sort. "I'm Sorry, I can't explain. I Don't think you would understand it at all." he finished as he slowed down on his breathing as the glow died down on his hands. With that he sighed for now and glad that he didn't end up shooting off any more projectiles like he done before.

With that he sighed for now and glad that he didn't end up shooting off any more projectiles like he done before.
The amusement from Erin's countenance faded as she noted the near panic that seemed to radiate from Kenny's presence. Her brow wrinkled at the awkward response he gave: "I'm Sorry, I can't explain. I don't think you would understand it at all."
God, he's crazy, she thought, a smile playing at the corners of her mouth. That twitch melted away, however, when a seed of doubt unearthed itself in her thoughts.
Kenny sighed, apparently genuinely pleased that his little trick was over, and Erin wondered what could make a person act so overprotective like that. Or... whatever the right adjective was. Maybe, she thought, she should just leave. But she'd told Kenny where she was going... what if he was a nutcase, and he followed her there, or something? Erin's nose wrinkled at the thought. Oh, don't be stupid, she chided herself. People are entitled to their secrets. It doesn't make them freaks.
All the same, Erin didn't feel right here anymore. "Right..." She rubbed her hands on her pants nervously and rose slowly from her seat. "Sorry... I gotta go... meetin' someone," lied Erin. "See ya later, all right?" She hoped she didn't.
The door clinked behind her as she stepped back into the outside world.
Hm... there was another good show out in California tomorrow night, she recalled. Four of her absolute favorite bands! Maybe she should call home and say she was staying at Kat's tonight, and instead just sneak a ride to the Coast. Airports were much quicker to go through when you're never spotted.
In the meantime, she could easily loose the coffee shop guy. You can't follow what you can't see.

As Kenny watched Erin leave for now he looked a little embarrased that he had to hide his powers so that he wouldn't feel like an outcast which he felt like already being different than the normal people around here. "Hmmmm maybe I'll check out that concert that she told me about. I could use some entertainment before I leave, but to where" he said to himself quietly as he finished his cup and begin to get up from the seat. "I just wish I didn't have to hide my secret but that's the way it has to be" he quietly said as he left the coffee shop for now and begin to walk down the road.
